NB. Due to the flexible nature of most of the rehearsal period, we believe it's compatible with pursuing other productions, as long as key dates don’t clash.

Blakademia, a collaborative verbatim ethnodrama being created both as part of Monash University’s Kindred People festival in 2026. Performers will be auditioned and chosen from the wider MUST community. You don’t need previous performance experience! Monash students and recent grads of all skill levels, backgrounds, identities and bodies are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Free Acting Workshops with Josh Richardson

Want to be a part of a new rehearsal method?

Josh, a PhD candidate and theatre director from Monash University is researching the way Consent-based practices can support actors’ identities in rehearsal spaces, and the positive impact choice and agency can have on the actor. Additionally, this project aims to explore how consent-based practice can influence rehearsal spaces in the creation of performance.

Josh is seeking people who are actors or have an interest in acting for a FREE 3hr workshop at Temperance Hall.

Ongoing Verbatim Performance Workshops -

working towards creating a show with Blayne Welsh

In collaboration with MUST, Indigenous Theatre Maker Blayne Welsh is offering Monash students ongoing, flexible opportunities working towards presentations for MPAC's Kindred People project in 2026. One is a verbatim project offering non-Indigenous students a chance to engage deeply with Black voices.

We're after students interested in discovering and exploring an Indigenised Verbatim Performance practice. Based in the methodology and mentorship of Joe Salvatore, Director of NYU's Verbatim Performance Lab, this process offers a chance to connect with and engage in deep exploration of other real human beings, based on interviews and social media artefacts, as well as Deep Listening.

You don't have to be a performer, however participants will be expected to be comfortable presenting and workshopping their verbatim portrayals regularly with the rest of the group.

We're aiming to gather interested students, run some info sessions with them, and then schedule workshops with participants' availabilities in mind.
