In late 2016, the Monash Student Council (the highest decision-making body in the Monash Student Association (MSA), comprised entirely of student reps), passed a motion late last year to rename the student union library (currently JML).

The driving force behind this is a recognition that “we should honour Indigenous Australians, rather than a person who denigrated them” – check out the article by MSA Indigenous reps Jayden and Bryda in Lot’s Wife Magazine for more background info.

No details are finalised yet, we are still named JML for now – but watch this space! We will keep you updated on this important initiative.
