Leadership & Volunteering
MSA volunteer leadership
Event Crew Leaders
Love events? Enjoy being part of the action? Want to take a hands-on leadership role in delivering great student experiences?
MSA is launching a new leadership program for students who want to play a key role in delivering our semester events and activities.
Event Crew Leaders are the on-the-ground leaders who help make MSA events happen. They will work alongside MSA staff, elected Student Office Bearers and event volunteers to ensure events run smoothly, safely and successfully from bump in through to bump out.
While Event Crew Leaders may provide some input and recommendations during the planning stages, the focus of this role is event delivery — being present, getting involved and helping the team make the event a success.
Events you could work on
- MSA Ball
- Community Dinners
- Day trips
- Movie Nights
- Art Exhibition
- Off-campus bar nights
- OFAD (Orientation After Dark)
- One World Festival
- Pink Party
- Queer Ball
- Safe & Sexy Week
- Sustainability Fair
- Teachers Awards
- Volunteer Awards Dinner
- Wednesday Sessions
- Weekly campus activities
- Social events and much more
Where events are linked to an MSA Division or Office Bearer department, the Event Crew Leader will report to the MSA Events Staff and the elected Office Bearer responsible for the event.

- Are happy to step up when extra volunteer support is needed.
- Enjoy working as part of a team and supporting those around them.
- Are reliable, organised and confident taking responsibility.

Experience
As this is a leadership role, applicants should have previous experience coordinating or supporting events, and experience leading, supervising or supporting volunteers during an event or activity.
Experience with MSA or Monash University events, or Clubs & Societies events, will be highly regarded.
Move beyond volunteering at events
Take an active leadership role on the ground — supporting volunteers, solving problems, working alongside the event team and helping make sure students have a great experience.
